Defining the Challenge

Creating the Project Plan
What will we work to produce?
What constraints will we need to manage?
What measure and indicators will help us know our ideas are successful?

The Project Brief
Write a short ‘brief’ that clarifies the challenges/problem to be address. It should be clear and concise allowing one to understand its content as it is addressed . Include supporting ideas/thoughts that reflect an understanding of the challenges/problems and where/how design has the opportunity to provide a solution.

Challenge Analysis
Capture the assumption and questions.

What we know?
What we believe we already know about this challenge?
What we would like to learn more about?

The Target Audience
Who will we be designing for?
Consider the core audience and extended audience.

Other Potential Competitors in the Malaysian Bamboo Cups Industry:

In addition to established companies, local artisans and craftsmen may produce handmade bamboo cups, often with unique designs and customization options.

Imported Brands:
While not direct competitors, imported brands of bamboo cups may also be available in the Malaysian market. These could come from countries with well-established bamboo product industries, such as China or Vietnam.

E-commerce Platforms:
Online marketplaces like Lazada and Shopee often feature a variety of bamboo cup brands and sellers, both local and international. These platforms can provide consumers with a wide selection of bamboo cups.

Market Overview
The use of eco-friendly and sustainable products has been on the rise in Malaysia, driven by increasing environmental awareness among consumers. Bamboo cups fall under this category and have gained popularity as an alternative to single-use plastic and disposable cups.

PROCESS

Week 1
In the first week, we were informed that we were going to collaborate with Taylor's Business School, and then we were given a chance to choose from 4 random numbers that indicated 4 different topics. Originally I was teamed up with Rachel, Brigita, Javin, and Siew Ni. However, we were informed that there were 3 topics left since one of the groups from the business school decided to drop the module, so our group is joining the other group. So Siew Ni and I are joining team 2 with Evaleez, Cecilia, Britney, and Jo Min, collaborating on the project: Green Earth Movement (G.E.M), which is working on bamboo cups.

So we start by asking our collaborators from business school some detailed questions about the product to get everything right before everything. Then we start by doing some research, personas, art direction, and survey questions.

Week 2
This week we finalized the survey questions and distributed them to get responses. We had a meeting with our collaborators from the business school and discussed the products's pricing which we thought was a bit pricy. After that, we also worked on the project document and prepared slides for the presentation next week.

Week 3
We presented our idea to our collaborators from business school this week.

FEEDBACK

Week 1
Since it is the first week, we didn't receive any feedback. Anyway, Ms. Lilian mentioned completing the weekly assessment every week and recording the project's process in our blog.

Week 2
This week we updated Ms. Lilian about our progress with research, survey draft questions, personas, and some art direction, and Ms. Lilian gave us some suggestions too.
Besides, we also updated Ms. Lilian about some information we got from the meeting with the business school, and we mentioned that the price of the bamboo cup was too expensive, and she suggested we discuss the price with the business school again to make the price more reasonable since there are cheaper cups online.
We have to distribute the survey this week to get responses for further work before next week like the empathy map, problem statement, and presentation.

Week 3
Miss Lilian mentioned that our problem statement is too general and inaccurate, so we might have to change that. Other than that, the survey is more focused on Gen Z, and not really related to our personas.

NEXT COURSE OF ACTION

Week 1
Work on research, personas, and survey questions to distribute next week.

Week 2
Spread the survey to get responses and analyze them. Then start on the empathy map and problem statement. After that, prepare the slides for the presentation next week.

Week 3
Work on the cup design, logo, website, poster, etc.

SUBMISSION

Here's the final presentation:

REFLECTION

Experience
This module feels like a minor project from the previous semester, both of them need to collaborate with others. And until now which is week 3, everything feels like kind of rushing since the business school is having their deadlines so we have to prepare for the things they wanted for their submissions like logo and stuff.

Observation
Through these three weeks, I observed that communication is very important as we are collaborating with the other schools, so we have to communicate with them every week to confirm and update every detail about the projects.

Findings
Overall I found out that teamwork is the most important thing as we have to work as a group to deal with our clients. Especially since we are from different specializations, teamwork is particularly important.
And I'm lucky to be in a very nice team with a bunch of amazing people :)
