Week 5

What is a critical review?

• A critical review is much more than a simple summary; it is an analysis and evaluation of a book, article, or other medium.
  
  
• Writing a good critical review requires that you understand the material and that you know how to analyse and evaluate that material using appropriate criteria.
  
  
• A critical review of a journal article evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of an article's ideas and content. It provides description, analysis and interpretation that allow readers to assess the article's value.

INSTRUCTIONS

We need to start working on our critical review, so we need to look for 5 articles that are relevant to our topic, then read through them and understand what is the study/research about.

Through the workshop on week 4, we learned to use Mendeley for this task.

We need to create a new folder in google drive, and placed the 5 articles that we chose.

-Need to be more specific on the topic (in what subjects: math/English…) -Need to revise the proposal but now focus on critical review first.

REFLECTION

It was quite hard to find 5 articles that are relevant to my topic, and I’m not sure is it the articles relevant to my topic, it was really frustrating to me. Other than that, I was working pretty slow as I need more time to look through and understand the articles. At first, I did it wrong because I thought we are going to submit 5 individual ones but we actually only need one critical review that contains the 5 articles, I need to admit that I was quite nervous when I found I'm doing it wrong but thank god I still managed to submit in on time. And after that, I paid more attention in class to prevent I'm doing it wrongly again.
