    EXERCISES

    Week 1

    Fig 26, Bezier Game, https://bezier.method.ac/

At first, I felt quite interesting to play this game as a practice to help us master the pen tool. After I tried it, it slowly gets more difficult and I need to try few more times to complete the level and get to the next level for another shape. Hope I can master it in a short time :)

My 3 favourite graphic design works from Pinterest

    • Design #1

This design is designed by Venngage. I like the colour of this design. The colours work fine together, even though there are only 4 colours in this poster. It gives me a desert vibe because of the orange side of the mountain. This design is clean and simple, easy to see that there is a man walking up to the mountain towards the sun. And overall I can see is balance, no matter from the space or colour.

    • Design #2

This poster is from a page called "gladline", there are a lot of interesting and amazing posters in the page. This poster is about Vans and skateboarding. I chose this poster because I really like how they use only black and different shades of blue to create this poster and it turned out really impressive. They used stripes for the background and it looks really good, I saw some designs look messy because of the stripes background but this does not look messy but clean.

    • Design #3

This design is designed by Lauren Martin. Her posters mostly are about food. I can feel the retro vibe in this poster from the colours she used. I loved how she add faces to the foods and utensils, it turned out really cute and funny, it seems like they are alive too. Every single faces are unique, there are sad faces, tired faces and annoying faces.

    Week 2 (Selection tools)
We were given some pictures to practice the selection tools after Mr. Martin gave us lectures about selection tools :

    Week 4 (Photo adjustment)
Mr. Martin taught us about the adjustment layer today, and he told us to play around with it so here is some of my process :

    Week 5 ( Photo manipulation)
We are given Shazam and Hearst mansion pictures to combine them using photoshop. After I watched Mr. Martin's video, I followed his steps for the shazam exercise in Photoshop.
These are the photos that we need to work with :

    Week 6 (Photo Recoloring)
This week we are going to do recoloring practice by watching Mr. Martin's video and the picture that he provided:

Fig 41, Black and white picture

First, I followed the video to color the face first and tried different layers to see their different effects. I used overlay for most of the layers and adjust their hue and saturation to adjust the color.

    Fig 42, coloring the face

Here is one of the processes that I'm trying different layers.

Coloring the lip, hair, eyes and coat with the same technique.

After selecting the background, I added a solid color to it then chose layer to it, and adjust the color in the hue and saturation section.

Here is my final result :

Week 7 (Recoloring Black & White)
I watched and followed the steps in the video that Mr. Martin provided to recolor the black and white photo.

We used the skin tone colors and hair colors from these two photos reference:

    Week 10 (After Effects)
For the typewriter, I adjusted the opacity of it and let it appear slowly in its place. And for the fencer, I just let it appear like the typewriter but did not adjust its opacity.
For the shark, I adjusted its position and scale from 50% and slowly swam into 100%.
I let the projector appear by using rotation and the circle behind, I get the colour from the typewriter and let it rotate too.

    REFLECTION
    • Bezier
In this exercise, I learned to use the pen tool for the first time. In the process, I learned how to manage the limited nodes to finish the pattern.

    • Selection tools
In this exercise, I learned how to use the lasso tool to select the objects and the magic wand tool that can select objects really fast when the background is clear. I also learned how to use the quick selection tool through this exercise. It is all new to me because I'm learning all this for the first time and it is fun.

    • Photo adjustment
After Mr. Martin taught us about photo adjustment, I learned a lot because at first, I thought it will be difficult but overall is still ok for me. Im having fun trying different types of filters and adjustments.

    • Photo manipulation
In this exercise, the thing that I struggled with was the shadow. Because I wanted it to be more natural, but when I'm doing it, the shape didn't turn out well but after a few tries, I figured out what shape of the shadow should be. I think that I need more practice with this exercise.

    • Photo Recoloring
I like this exercise because we can play around with the colors and it does not seem so difficult as I thought. At first, I didn't think that photo recoloring will be like this, but after this exercise, I really learned a lot.

    • After Effects
It is fun to learn After Effects because we can animate things the way we want. And it is fun to see things went still to moving. Overall it is quite fine for me, but still need more practice to make the moves smoother.
